Crisótilo (m)
The complex crystal structure of the Chrysotil causes the layers to roll up cylindrically and form long, fine and hollow fibres on the inside. These fuse to form felt or mat-like aggregates and are generally known under the collective name asbestos. Chrysotile was used for heat-resistant materials such as heat-resistant clothing, electrical insulation, gaskets and ropes. It was also used for roof tiles. Due to the dangers of asbestos, it is rarely used today.
